Colt 1878 double Action Frontier Revolver with etched “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” 7 ½” barrel in .44-40 caliber, S/N 15914. This revolver shows 60%-80% original toning blue with full etched panel patinaed slightly dark. Bright fire blue on hammer and trigger. Sharp and crisp grips that are at least very good plus. The front sight is its full dimensions. Factory letter confirms caliber and the barrel is listed as 5 ½” (Probable mistake), shipped to J.H. Ashdown, Winnepeg, Canada, Sept. 22, 1885, 2 guns in shipment. Letter included. Crisp action and bright bore. Strong 8.5 on a 1-10 scale. (Antique) Est.: $4000-$8000
